This week, I’m going to go with something a little more sultry and a lot more sexy. Meet the Lara lingerie line, by Elomi.
Appearance: The Lara comes in two distinct styles – a lightly padded half cup styles (some would call this a “demi cup”), and a full coverage style. In both styles, the cups are made from a silvery-beige satin simplex and are covered by a black mesh overlay. This gives the fabric a shimmery, almost shot silk effect. Black floral embroidery drips down from the top of the cup. The cup is trimmed with black lace and a silver chain detail. The center part of the bra has a black swiss dot overlay and a double ribbon in black and silver. The straps are pleasantly wide, but not too much, and are attached to the cup with small silver and black ribbons, echoing the ribbon in the center of the bra. The sides are made of a nice wide black powernet mesh, which helps hold everything in and keep everything smooth under clothing.
There are two matching kinds of bottoms – a thong and deep brief. Both styles have a panel of matching satin simplex in the front, with matching black floral embroidery and chainette detail. The sides and back of the panty are made from sheer swiss dot stretch mesh, which also overlays the front satin panel as well.
Karen’s Notes: I hold this bra near and dear to my heart. I remember Dana putting the half-cup style on me when I got fitted at Bra Genie and I felt AMAZING. It was just so sexy! I’d never owned anything like this before – and the beautiful thing was, it FIT ME. You have to understand, dear reader, that for years I felt like I was doomed to a life of plain, boring, Maw-Maw bras. The sexiest bra I’d had before that was a black balconette style from Lane Bryant – and I hated wearing it because I was always fluffing out of the top of the cup! I loved looking at those lacy embroidered bras, but I never in my life thought I would find one that was made in my size, since I was a plus size woman. Since I’ve been fitted and started working at Bra Genie, I’ve gone a little bit overboard with getting cute, sexy, and fun styles.
Anyway, back to the bra…
I’ve tried both styles on women and I really like them both, for different reasons. The half cup style really amps up the cleavage, and gives that super-sexy rounded look for younger women or those with a fuller, more rounded breast. The full coverage style is very similar to the shape of the Caitlyn, but is lower in the front and I believe it works better for women who are softer at the top of the breast, since it really lifts and gives a rounded look. However, these are not hard-and-fast rules, and every woman is different. ALWAYS try things on!
With the embroidery and seams, you will see this under lightweight knit shirts, so I like to wear this under layers, or a crisp shirt. I wore Lara under my steampunk ensemble for CoastCon all day last year, and you can’t see it at all.
Colors: only black. However, Elomi has released it in other colors in the past, so hopefully they come out with another color option again soon! (Personally, I would love to see it in green and gold, similar to the Fauve Dali.)
Sizes: Half cup – 36-42 D-G; 44 D-FF; 46 D-F
Full cup – 36-42 E-JJ; 44 E-G
Both the Brief and Thong come in M-4X
As always, I recommend being professionally fitted annually at your local fitting salon to make sure you are wearing the right size!
