A while back, I asked you for your recommendations for some great inexpensive beauty products. Without further ado, this is what you guys love!
AbeilleNOLA – “Cetaphil lotion”
Liz_Money – “Carmex Healing lotion – it’s the best new product i’ve seen in a long time :)”
pray4words – “L`Oreal Collagen Micro Pulse Total Eye Correction System – 31 days of use, I see a difference around the eye and forehead :-D”
shoeaddict17 – “Aveeno clear complexion cleansing pads! Almay eye makeup remover pads & the new Q-tips w/ makeup remover. Love all 3 everyday.”
sassyuptownchic – “I love Cetaphil cleanser! It’s wonderful. :)”
Im_X1 – “Eucerin cream, Neutrogena body wash, Sally Hansen nail products.”
ShoeGalKayla says, “Revlon Colorstay is a nice foundation for matte finish. Neutrogena Healthy Skin is nice for a dewy finish.”
Lia says, “For powder foundation, I really like Everyday Minerals. They come in a ton of different colors and you can get a cheap sample kit to figure out what’s best for your skin. I also really like E.L.F. for bright eye colors. I just got their holiday glitter eyes palette for $5 and have already done several neat eye looks.”
Julie says, “Have you checked out eyeslipsface.com? Everything is under 8$, most being 1-3$ and they always have some kind of sale on. You can get a small selection at Target, but if you really want to save, order online. I swear by the studio shadow sticks for my eyes and I love the studio tinted moisturizer. They make up remover clothes are fantastic as well.”
Alex says, “Almost all the makeup I own is e.l.f.! I love them. I think my favorite product of theirs is the Mineral Face Primer ($3). It’s a huge help if I’m applying any liquid makeup to my face, as otherwise, my skin will soak it up on the spot like a sponge and I can’t get the coverage I prefer.”
J.D. says, “I’ve heard some great things about Almay’s Smart Balance foundation from a friend who is a fiend for drugstore makeup. I use the smart balance powder and it’s pretty great at keeping shine away. I personally use Bare Minerals powder(mineral) foundation, which is more expensive, but it takes me a long time to got through a container, like 3-4 months, so that cuts down on the price considerably.
I’m actually on the search for all around awesome waterproof drugstore mascara. I use Covergirl Bright eyes, and holy cow does that stuff stay on, but it doesn’t lengthen/thicken as much as I would like.”
GoingLoopy says, “The Sephora Flashy Waterproof Eyeliner ($8) is the most awesome eyeliner EVER. It actually seems pretty durable – I have oily skin and it’s the only thing I’ve found that doesn’t disappear by the end of the day. I have the brown and the turquoise – very vibrant, goes on super smoothly.
Best cheap oily skin moisturizer ever. Boots Expert Shine Control Lotion
Best facial cleasing item (again, oily skin – also, I’m 37 and have fairly sensitive skin). They smell so good. Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads“
Caddy says, “Covergirl’s Simply Ageless foundation is kinda wonderful. I don’t use it for the “ageless” part, so I can’t speak to how it behaves with fine lines. I rely on it for it’s ability to provide a lot of coverage, so I use a fair bit of it and it doesn’t feel heavy, and I’ve been told it doesn’t look very cakey. It applies very easily and has a smooth, light texture, stays put throughout the day, comes in a pretty extensive range of shades and the color stays true/doesn’t ever look too orange or too pink, and has never made me break out/clogged pores. The only downside is it takes some effort to take it off completely. It costs anywhere from 13 to 16 bucks, depending on the store, and is available anywhere that sells covergirl products.
I also love Rimmel’s Glam Eyes black liquid eyeliner. I think it costs about 7 bucks. I don’t buy it often since it lasts forever (and I probably don’t pitch out my makeup as often as the “experts” say you should). It usually takes me about a year if not more to finish a tube, and I wear it at least 4 days a week. It lasts through a lot – never cracks/chips, hardly smudges unless you’re really aggressive with it, and looks pretty good the next morning if you happen to sleep with it on. The brush isn’t anything tricky, just small, soft, relatively short bristles. It’s easy to apply and easy to control how thick or precise you want the line to be. I’ve tried a lot of other eyeliners, both cheap and pricey, and this one is the best I’ve ever used.”
beccaiscool over at LiveJournal says, “I LOVE Lash Stiletto mascara. It’s pretty awesome. And I think it retails for less than 10.”
