Saturday I spent the day with good friends over at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival in Hammond. I try to make it to this festival once every year (sometimes twice if I can afford it). It is a lot of fun and I also get to wear my ren faire wear – which I never get to do. Well, unless I’m at a sci-fi con…or on Halloween…or on Mardi Gras day.

Okay, I just look for excuses to dress up, I admit it.

Anyway, it was a beautiful day, I got to see some good shows, drink some mead, and spend the day with friends. If you live in Southeast Louisiana, take a day trip to Hammond and check out the festival – it’s really fun and an interesting way to spend the day!

Rockets! Space! Yay!

You have to understand something about me. I am an enormous space nerd. I’ve loved astronomy since I was a kid, I’ve always been a big proponent of space travel and exploration, and DEAR BABY JEBUS I would have loved to go to Space Camp as a kid. So this weekend a visit to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama was an absolute must. Not only that, but there was a Star Wars exhibit there, so not only did I get my geek on for real-life SCIENCE, I got my sci-fi geek on as well.
