Why, yes, I am obsessed with chambray lately.

Since the Louisiana summers are rapidly approaching, I’ve been on the lookout for more lightweight dresses I can wear all year long. I’ve never really been a fan of chambray before, but it makes sense for summer – lightweight, cotton, breathable. I found this dress on sale at Lands’ End and saw some serious potential in it. Granted, chambray can seem a little bland, and if you’re not careful, you can easily tread into “blah” territory. This dress comes with a matching tie belt, which is cute, but it’s a little too much pale blue. I figured throwing a colorful cami, a big belt, and gold flats would change things up a bit and take it from “blah” to cute!

(Totally off topic – I almost titled this post “Feelin’ blue, pt. 2 – Chambray Boogaloo” but I thought that was a bit much.)

This was my first maxi dress that I picked up at Abeille NOLA back in March. The FABULOUS owner, Meg grabbed this off of the rack and handed it to me in the dressing room. I was hesitant – first, it’s a large, and I am much bigger than a straight size large – and second, I’d been iffy about trying maxi dresses because I was afraid they would make me look stumpy.

I could not have been more wrong. Thanks, Meg! :D

I so love this look…however, I can’t do boyfriend jeans or oxfords because they make my legs look ridiculously stubby. So I switched a couple of items out and this was the result! I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to wear this outfit, what with the Louisiana summer rapidly approaching, but this is definitely one of my favorite ensembles.
