I really need to invest in a good camera to take out with me and stop using my Droid for things like this.

Last Saturday my mom, brother, and I went out to the French Market for an afternoon. We ate lunch at Angeli’s on Decatur (one of my favorite places).

People watching on Decatur.

Disco balls and artwork.

There was a giant painting of Drew Brees there done by Tim Neil.

My mom, a huge Saints fan, had to get a picture with it.

Then we spent some money!

My Droid is great for taking pictures outside during the day, at least!

October always seems to be a busy time of year down here – as soon as the weather cools off, everyone wants to go out and do things! Do you get busier when fall rolls in?

Rockets! Space! Yay!

You have to understand something about me. I am an enormous space nerd. I’ve loved astronomy since I was a kid, I’ve always been a big proponent of space travel and exploration, and DEAR BABY JEBUS I would have loved to go to Space Camp as a kid. So this weekend a visit to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama was an absolute must. Not only that, but there was a Star Wars exhibit there, so not only did I get my geek on for real-life SCIENCE, I got my sci-fi geek on as well.

This was a piece of Skylab that had fallen to earth. It looks like a giant cigarette butt.

The Saturn V rocket. It was restored and put in the new Davidson Center after sitting outside for so many years. This thing is ENORMOUS.

They were setting up for a wedding so we had to hurry through. (In other news, I would have LOVED to get married under a rocket.)

Riding in the vanpool every afternoon, this is what I see.  It’s calming.
