The New Orleans Fashion Week website opened up today! March 20-26, 2011. I will so be there. I’m going to save up PTO and take a few days off if I have to. I’m totally serious. Since I don’t have the clout/money to go to New York or London, this is a must-do for me.
I really want these handbags:
I think Handbag Heaven has become my new handbag window shopping site, kind of like Zappos is for shoes. (Doug – please don’t yell at me if I come home with a new bag or three.)

This gallery made me sadface. The models are beautiful, but the clothes? What the huh? It looks like these poor models are wearing sacks and tents. OneStopPlus had a major opportunity to bring it at NYFW, and this was just sad.
I’ve shopped at a couple of the OneStopPlus stores – mainly Avenue and Jessica London – and even though the clothes look lovely in the catalog, they are slouchy and cut too wide in real life. They also tend to be made for tall women. The sheath dress, even though I took my measurements and ordered based on those, hung on me like a potato sack – and the length must have been for someone 6 feet tall or more! The dress came to just below the knee on the model, and on me, it hit right above the ankle.
I understand that a lot of designers these days have left the haute couture to European runways, and are showing more pieces that can be worn in real life, but just once I want to see a REAL plus size fashion show. Ridiculous makeup, some haute couture – all on plus size models. Size 14 and up. I want to see some amazing things along the line of McQueen, Mugler or Gauthier. (Can you tell I am a fan of 90s-era Vogue?)
